2017…Happy New Year! Nevada City and Grass Valley areas were covered in snowed on the first days of the year 2017. Beautiful white flakes of snow drifted slowly to cover open spaces and decorate the trees by settling on pine boughs.
It is wonderful when it snows here. I think we get the best snow storms, pretty to look at from a nice warm cozy fire…next day or day after, it’s mostly gone!
The snow-line elevation here is about 3000’. This means downtown Nevada City and Grass Valley is clear, but 5-10 minutes up the hill there is most likely snow on the ground. That is the best part, you can drive to it, enjoy its beauty and have fun in it, then drive home without the scary slippery roads!
Today it’s a blue sky and 50-60 degree temperatures and the snow is just packed enough to make a great toboggan run! Weeeee!
